CoD4 : X4 v1.1 eXtreme Warfare




What is X4?

If you recall, X4 is a community-led, flexible, multipurpose modification of IW's CoD4: Modern Warfare game. The key here is the word "flexible". X4 v1.1 is a "Multi-Mod" so to speak. It can be many things to many types of players. It is not just for the fraggers and run'n gunners out there. X4 can be configured for Sniper clans and has a huge number of configurable settings that even the Tactical guys will love.

eXtreme+ Support Crew have been slaving over v1.1 for some time now and I can tell you they have brought us something really special.




True, there are a lot of mods already floating around in the CoD4 landscape at the moment. All of you I am sure have played either Marc's ACE, Zeroy's TN, FK's fkmod, Hajas' Frontlines or AWE4...but how many out there have ever fired weapons out of the belly of an AC130? Well you can now...in X4. Rack up enough kills and you can shoot your enemies like fish in a barrel with one of three AC130U "Spooky" weapon systems as you circle high above the battle.`

- For the admins, X4 now has an advanced redirect capability. You can download maps from multiple web-hosts of your choice anywhere in the world.
- Server redirect features allow players to be redirected if your server is off-line.
- You can make tons of mods to the HUD. For example, you can set enemy blips on or off.
- Ambient environments can be adjusted (you can turn on/off snow, rain...etc.)
- You can add a clan logo on the screen.
- You get full clan control capability. For example, you get clan greetings and messages.
- Forced autoassign is added with clan exceptions; that is, clan members don't necessarily get autoassigned.
- Currently the map rotation is limited in CoD4 by a 1024 byte text string containing the names of all the maps. Right now that means that, say, 20 maps could be fit into that 1024 byte string you only get a 20 map rotation. X4 allows you to stack maps and thus have a total map rotation capability of 20 maps x 19. {PST}*Joker himself has loaded 209 maps successfully in one rotation during the Beta phase.
- Battle chatter can be turned on. Chatter allows the avatar to yell out his actions - similar to what the SP avatar does. For example, your player will yell out "Planting Claymore", "Grenade!" ...etc. Certainly adds to the overall excitement in the game.
- A range finder is added. However, you can modify it so that it only shows up when you are scoped.
- Advanced admin features allow you to turn people you select into a tombstone, or a soda machine...to name a few inanimate objects.
- Name checker ensures that players with impolite names cannot log onto your server.
- Auto re-naming of "Unknown Solder"-types
- The anti-camping system of eXtreme+ has been ported into X4.
- The "Knife-kill, nade and headshot" counter from CoDUO has been added.
- Anti-bunny hopping and jump limiters have been added.
- For the tournament guys, the prematch warm up can be turned on - a very pam-like feature.
- When a player is injured they can be made to bleed to death slowly.
- Bullet holes can show up on your screen if you are being shot at. As well, Joker has also added lots more blood everywhere (he's such a ghoul :) ).
- A first for a First Person Shooter? X4 now allows you to use a 3rd person perspective view!
- Ragdoll effect can now be seen in any mode of play.
- C4 can now work like a claymore (proximity detectors)
- "Drop weapon when hit", is back.
- Nade explosions are amped.
- You can defuse a planted claymore.


Finally,

While stock-game hard-points in CoD4 are UAV, Airstrike, Helicopter. In the first version of X4, the Airstrike with Napalm was added.

Now with version 1.1, the awesome AC130U Gunship can be brought into the battle. You now have the ability to control one of the three weapons systems on the aircraft. As shown below, depending on your kill streak, you can progress through the 25mm, 40 and finally the 105mm gun.

Currently there is no "defense" against the Spooky. Just as there is no defense against the game's Airstrike. What to do then? Duck or go in a building. Note that in the current version of X4, you cannot see the AC130. This seems to make some sense given that it flies at operational heights to make spotting it difficult and impossible to hit with small arms fire; however, in future mods, the mycallofduty.com scripters are looking to add an AC130 model which you will at least be able to see up in the sky.
